This 2-hour CE workshop is designed for mental health professionals seeking to expand their clinical skills in working with Queer clients through expressive arts and somatic therapy. Grounded in trauma-informed, intersectional, and liberatory practices, this program offers therapists both theoretical grounding and experiential practices that integrate body-based and creative approaches to healing. Emphasizing embodied narratives, intergenerational trauma, and the socio-political contexts of Queer identity, participants will explore how to safely support clients in accessing, expressing, and transforming trauma held in the body. The session will include case material, art-based directives, somatic grounding exercises, and opportunities for self-reflection.

Program Description

This 3-hour continuing education workshop is designed for mental health professionals working with Queer clients and marginalized populations.

Grounded in harm reduction, body liberation, and somatic and expressive modalities, this training introduces participants to embodied narrative therapy.

Techniques that center the wisdom of the body, creative expression, and socio-political context.

Through case examples, experiential activities, and applied discussion, therapists will learn how to integrate trauma-informed, Queer-affirming care into clinical practice.


Learning Objectives

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

·     Describe the principles of expressive arts and somatic therapy for trauma work.

·      Explain how intergenerational trauma and embodied memory affect Queer clients.

·      Apply at least two expressive/somatic interventions in clinical work.

·      Integrate harm reduction and body liberation frameworks into therapeutic relationships.

·      Contextualize Queer trauma within a socio-political and intersectional framework.
