Getting the back of your inner thigh tattooed is a special kind of torture I don’t recommend. The first time I had that spot tattooed, I had an Addams Family polypocket tattooed. It was incredibly painful, and I thought I might never do the other side. But there’s Nikki, who does the most incredible tattoos through the traditional handpoke method. So she designed an ocean-themed poly pocket (to match the ocean theme on that leg), and it didn’t hurt a fraction of what it did last time. I get an incredibly sweet tattoo filled with childhood memories of tie-dye dolphin t-shirts and ocean-themed polypockets by the beach.

Looking at this reminds me of a different time in my life, when things felt simpler, easier, and less painful. Where a toy like this was the most exciting thing in the world, where losing a little piece of plastic was the most devastating thing I could experience, and when something so simple was the most complex part of my life.
